The advantages of having a Hyde Park Savings Bank account.
This review is for: Hyde Park Savings Bank
I opened a checking account approximately, four months ago to pay bills online, transfer funds and conduct safe, online and over the phone transactions using my debit card. I had checked out this bank’s overall reputation, customer service, as well as how knowledgeable their staff were, before signing up. I was certainly impressed with their level of professionalism, attentiveness and their extensive knowledge, on the products they offer. This bare bones account did not accrue interest, did not have any enhanced features, but worked exactly as described.
Deposits were confirmed within 48 hours. Withdrawal amounts from the ATM, or by using various pay by phone services, were verified by the bank and properly deducted from the overall balance, within three business days. The bank’s website has enabled me to conduct safe bill pay transactions, transfer funds to other financial institutions, change my security profile settings, setup email alerts and the option of signing up for other accounts, without having to visit my local neighborhood branch. The company’s policies and procedures governing overdraft fees are comparable to industry standards.
Although there are many financial institutions these days, that are experiencing liquidity issues, FDIC takeovers and even government bailouts, this company has had consistent earnings, a strong balance sheet, has been in business for a long time and is known for attaining above average customer satisfaction ratings. However, the fact that no interest is accruing on an account that has substantial monthly activity, seems to be to the very least unfair. If a bank has the right to charge fees for overdrawing, it should also reduce fees and pay out interest or offer other rewards to responsible account holders. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case here.
Last month, while I was on vacation in Europe, I needed to use my debit card at a small retail shop. The merchant informed me that there was a problem with the card. I contacted customer service from overseas, gave my personal information, explained the situation and within 20 minutes, the transaction was completed. I usually have low expectations for small bank debit cards, with regards to transactions conducted outside of the country, but in this case it worked out well. I would definitely recommend Hyde Park Savings Bank to prospective customers that are looking for a reputable financial institution that has a proven track record in safeguarding assets, protecting personal information, allowing transactions to be conducted through a secure website and last but not least, a well informed, polite staff that took the time to answer all my questions.
