This review is for: Flagstar
I have been a customer of flagstar bank, located in Washington MI, for over 10 years. And while I have done business with other banks over the years, Flagstar is by far the best. The overall expeirience has been exceptional.
I origanaly was drawn to flagstar by the great rates they offered on both their money market accounts and certificates of deposits, both far above market. The rates of these accounts have managed to remain amoung the best available the entire time. I have taken advantage of several other services they offer. I opened a checking account, which they rewarded me with $100 for opening and linking it to direct deposit, and a retirement account.
The coustomer service is a real strength at Flagstar. When visiting the bank I always go inside for the personal interaction. The people that work at my branch are great. They are very friendly, and equally as helpful. I recently bought a house, and they made every visit quick and enjoyable. Whether deposting or transfering funds, recieving large sums of cash, or just checking a balence, I am always important and comfortable.
I would definatly recommend Flagstar bank to anyone who is considering starting a wounderful relationship with a reputable finacial instatution.

This review is for: Express Money Market Promo
Flagstar's Money Market Promo account has been offering rates consistently above average for sometime now, enough that I wanted to give them a call.
The CSR I spoke with was very personable, and knew his stuff. The account is entirely online - meaning there's nothing to mail in during the application process, statements are available online, and Flagstar has their own fully-functioning ACH system in which I could set-up linked accounts. He also said that as a money market, I would be entitled to an ATM/debit card if I'd like - which is nice to have for the ATM card capabilities, don't think I'll be using the debit card features.
A big concern I had with the account was their early termination fee. Most banks, if they're going to charge a fee, will impose an early termination fee if you close an account within 90 days. But Flagstar's early termination period is 180 days! That's 6 months! I'm not applying for a CD, I just want a bank account. That's too much of a commitment for me, and despite the fact that I liked everything else the CSR had to say, the 180 day early closing period turned me off.
