A fine CD
This review is for: Standard CD
I'd give this CD three stars for its short terms and five stars for its longer terms. Oddly, its APY for any time up to a year-long term is actually lower than the APY on its savings account. So that's a no-go.
But the APY for its longer terms are actually quite competitive, often topping out the list. And there's nothing that warns me off of this CD, like having to visit a branch to prevent the CD from rolling over to another term. I'd maybe be a little more enthusiastic but for right now, saying that a CD has a better-than-normal two-year rate is a little like saying that this year's KC Royals team is one of the best teams KC has put together in a decade... (it's still not very good, for all you non-baseball fans).

Another Great AMEX Product
This review is for: High Yield Savings
I've had an American Express Card for about 10 years now. Absolutely love it, always a great experience. So when I found out AMEX was offering a bank account, I was excited to check it out.
There's nothing that's particularly revolutionary about the account - although I would argue that's pretty hard to achieve with a savings account - but some of the small details line up well with what I would expect from AMEX.
In particular, their $250k/day transfer limit to/from the account via ACH. Keeping with their "no limits" credit card approach, AMEX isn't going to play money transfer games with me - I transfer what I want, when I want. Simple, functional, powerful. Little details like this, along with a competitive interest rate will keep me with the AMEX brand for as long as they'll have me.
