This review is for: Personal Internet Money Market
Amegy bank's Personal Money Market just started this past February '08, so they're relatively new to the online account world - which is pretty obvious when I checked out the details in the "Account Access" section, and it recommends a "web browser such as Netscape 6.0 or IE 5.0 or higher" - that's old school.
But seeing as their rates have been competitive and they are a reasonably sized, reasonably stable bank (as much as anyone can say right now) I gave them a call to get some details. The woman I spoke with was very sweet, but turns out they are just as old school as I first thought. They don't have their own ACH system, so all money transfers must originate at a different bank. Additionally, they'll only accept a mailed check for the initial deposit. And although they have the option to receive statements online, it must be initially set-up via mail...that's just a little more work than I'm looking to do.
