Basic checking acccount with no frills
I've had an EZ Checking account for over three years. It's an account with little to no extras. You have to maintain a $1500 balance across qualifying Citi accounts to avoid getting hit with a monthly fee. It costs extra to get official bank checks using this account. I do like the online bill pay that's included with this account and that's one of the only reasons I'm keeping it open. At Chase, you can get an equivalent account with no monthly fees, free checks, free official bank checks, etc., which this account does not offer. There are better alternatives out there, but if you don't have problems maintaining the minimum balance and like their online bill pay system, which I prefer over Chase's, then it's not a bad choice. There are plenty of Citi ATM's, so getting access to your money isn't a problem, especially since all 7-11's have Citi ATMs. They are also accessible in most of the world, which is a huge convenience. If you don't do online bill pay, there are much better accounts out there. One other reason why I'm keeping this account is that it does earn Thank You points, which is a rewards program that you can link with Citibank credit cards and other accounts.
